Safety Fest scheduled

Oct. 3, 2016

Celebrate Fire Prevention Week at the Garland Fire Department’s annual Safety Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. The event will be held at the Fire Administration and Training Facility, 1500 State Highway 66 in Garland.

Join in a day of free family activities, food trucks, education and live entertainment by Ken Savage and the Best Kept Secret! Kids will also enjoy interactive activities such as a firefighter obstacle course, a PHI helicopter landing, stomp rockets and catapults and a car fire demonstration by the Garland Fire Department.

A variety of safety exhibits will include CPR and fire prevention demonstrations, free child ID kits and appearances by the Garland Police Department and SWAT team. Children and adults alike will enjoy seeing fire engines, ambulances, police cars and a helicopter on-site!

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 9-15. The theme for this year’s event is “Don’t Wait—Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.” Each year, the National Fire Prevention Association uses Fire Prevention Week to address home safety and fire prevention topics that can help keep you and your family safe.
