Clear the Shelters Day, Dog-A-Palooza scheduled

Jul. 27, 2015

Garland will participate in Clear the Shelters Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. All pet adoption fees will be waived for spayed and neutered during this time. Adoptions will be held at the Garland Animal Shelter, 600 Tower Street and Pet Adoption Center, 813 Main Street.

Forty other shelters across North Texas are participating in this event in an effort to find homes for hundreds of pets across the Metroplex. Last year’s event resulted in record-breaking adoptions and helped educate the public on the benefits of adopting shelter animals.

A list of locations, adoption policies and other information can be found at EmptytheShelter.org.

Additionally, the 10th Dog-A-Poolooza will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Holford Pool, 2322 Homestead Place. Cost is $5 per dog (rabies tag or certification required) and $1 per human.

The event will include unleashed swimming, pet services and supplies, adoptions, lost-cost vaccinations and more.

Proceeds will support Garland Pawsibilities’ mission to increase shelter pet adoptions. The event is hosted in cooperation with the Garland Parks & Recreation Department and Garland Animal Services.

**Please note the Dog-a-Poolooza event is cash only.
