The Rowlett Eagles’ Class 6A Division I regional semifinal playoff bid ended Saturday, Nov. 28 in a heart-stopping 31-24 overtime loss to Humble Atascocita High School.

RHS had a 14-10 lead at halftime but found themselves trailing 24-14 at the end of the third quarter. They rallied in the fourth to tie the score, but Atascocita scored a TD in overtime to win the game.

The regional semifinals round is the farthest the Eagles have gone in the playoffs and this was the second time they had reached that level.

The Eagles’ run was impressive with a 65-64 win over Belton HS in the bi-district playoff round and a 24-21 victory over Skyline HS in the area round.

LaDarius Dickens caught 12 Logan Bonner passes for 146 yards and three of those catches were for TDs, 16-, 58- and 26-yarders. Bonner ended the game at 29-51 with 312 yards.

Trenton Gordon had a good day on defense with two interceptions.
