The Garland Police Department made 12 Driving While Intoxicated arrests during the 12 days of increased enforcement surrounding the Independence Day holiday. Patrols were increased from June 24 through July 5 to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the holiday.

The added enforcement resulted in five DWI arrests and two DUI minor arrests. During the same time period Garland’s regular patrol logged an additional five DWI arrests bringing the total to 12 impaired driving related arrests.

The additional enforcement was paid for by a state funded grant from TxDOT known as the Impaired Driving Mobilization grant. More information is available at http://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/media-center/psas/drunk-driving.html.
