Investigation of Thursday shooting ongoing

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Sept. 29, the Garland Police Department responded to the report of a man shot at a residence in the 700 block of Santiago Drive. Upon arrival, the responding officers’ initial investigation revealed a male subject in the garage of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

While at the location officers contacted one subject in front of the residence who was identified as 19-year-old Deion Coston of Garland.

Garland police detectives responded to investigate the shooting. The investigation led detectives to believe that Coston, the victim and a third subject (witness) were in the garage with a gun. Coston pointed the gun at the victim and shot him.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Coston is currently being charged with Aggravated Assault-Deadly Weapon. No others have been charged at this time.

The victim, who remains in critical condition, has been identified as 23-year-old Tre’ Devonte Jones of Garland.
