GFD to host Safety Fest

Sep. 16, 2015

The Garland Fire Department will celebrate Fire Prevention Week with an informative, fun and free community event.  Safety Fest, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. will be held at the Garland Fire Department Administration and Training Facility at 1500 State Highway 66 in Garland.

The event date is the last Saturday of Fire Prevention Week, so GFD hopes to close it out with a bang. Educational presentations and displays, along with lots of family fun activities, will be featured.

A few of the exhibits and presentations will include rappelling, disaster preparedness, vehicle extrication, bounce slide, helicopter landing and various other presentations.

There will also be food trucks, as well as live entertainment by Ken Savage and The Best Kept Secret.

In addition to hoping that the event helps make the city of Garland a safety community, GFD hopes for a huge turnout, so be sure and take advantage of this FREE opportunity to learn and have lots of fun.
