Harmony Public Schools will add another building block to its innovative teaching techniques after receiving a five year, $26 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, the department announced Harmony is one of 13 recipients nationwide of the federal Teaching Incentive Fund (TIF) competition. The TIF competition is a performance-based reward system for principals and teachers in high-risk schools.

“This is another statement to the high quality of our educators, and will add to the many educational tools they use to prepare our students to succeed in college and in life,” said Dr. Soner Tarim, CEO of Harmony Public Schools.

The schools will use the grant monies to continue its mission of supporting its engaged and dedicated teachers as they provide rigorous curriculum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The school looks to expand its professional development and financial incentives for high-performing educators to increase and maintain student academic performance.

“Our teachers consistently go above and beyond every day to ensure our students receive the best possible education. I am thrilled we will be able to expand the professional and financial support we provide to our educators, which they so obviously deserve,” said Zekeriya Yuksel, Superintendent of Schools.
