Hit & run fatality prompts search

Garland police are searching for a vehicle and its driver involved in a fatality hit & run accident that occurred Friday, April 12.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 5500 block of Lyons Road.  When officers arrived they observed a male lying in the roadway with severe injuries. The male was transported to the hospital where he later died.  He has been identified as 51-year-old Gary Edward Nawrocki of Garland.

Investigators believe that Nawrocki was walking in the roadway when an unknown vehicle struck him and fled the scene.
