Week three of non-district high school football play brought wins for four of Garland ISD’s high schools.

 

LCHS victorious over Arlington HS

The Lakeview Centennial Patriots defeated Arlington High School Thursday, Sept. 10 by a final score of 36-21.

Quarterback Kamron Fields threw for two TD passes in the first quarter. The first was a 64-yarder to Kaleb McNac and the second was a 44-yard throw to Shamond Greenwood.

Fields also scored on a 29-yard rush in the third quarter and Jamil Linwood got a 9-yard rushing TD in the fourth.

In addition to three successful point after attempts, kicker John Guerra got 24-, 25- and 29-yard field goals for the Patriots.

Fields was 14-21 on the night with 235 yards and carried the ball 24 times for 161 yards. Linwood rushed for 107 yards.

Mustangs get win over Bishop Lynch HS

The Sachse Mustangs got a Thursday night victory over Bishop Lynch High School in a high-scoring 50-34 contest.

The Mustangs’ first score came on a 44-yard pass from Jalen Mayden to Nate Shelton. Later in the game, Mayden also connected with Donovan Duvernay, Chris Hill and Devin Duvernay on 34-, 46- and 42-yard TD passes.

Kelon Wilson got three rushing TDs on 2-, 12- and 19 yard runs.

The defense added a safety for SHS.

Kicker Geoffrey was good on six PATs.

Mayden completed 11 of 16 pass attempts for 208 yards. Wilson rushed for 132 yards on 12 carries.

RHS falls to Keller HS

The Rowlett Eagles lost to Keller High School in another high-scoring Thursday night matchup. The final score was 56-41.

RHS quarterback Logan Bonner threw for an impressive 442 yards and two TDs on the game. He connected with Cameron Vitosh on an 18-yard throw and LaDarius Dickens on a 29-yarder.

Bonner also scored on an 8-yard run and Dickens got a TD on a 9-yard rush. Kobe Morrow also scored for the Eagles on a 2-yard run.

Dickens caught 10 passes for 177 yards.

Kicker Alvin Kenworthy added 34- and 38-yard field goals and was good on five PATs.

Owls win heart-stopper against Rockwall Heath HS

The Garland Owls pulled out a victory in a 20-16 nail-biter against Rockwall-Heath High School at AT&T Stadium Friday, Sept. 11.

Rockwall Heath HS went in at halftime with a 9-6 lead and hung onto it until the Owls scored early in the fourth quarter giving GHS a 13-9 lead. Rockwall Heath took the lead again with only 1:20 left in the game to bring the score to RHHS-16 – GHS-13.

With three seconds left in the game, Coree Compton caught a 10-yard pass from Jacoby Williams for the win.

Williams was 12-25 with 150 yards on the game and he also scored on a 1-yard run. Michael Turman got a TD on a 53-yard run.

Kicker Hunter Merriman added two extra points.

Raiders get big win over Hillcrest HS

The North Garland Raiders defeated Hillcrest High School by a final score of 50-14 Friday, Sept. 11.

Quarterback Zach Duffey was 8-8 with 107 yards and two TDs on the game. He also scored three times on 18-, 1- and 9-yard rushes.

Jamar Braziel caught both of Duffey’s TD passes, 23- and 8-yarders. Braziel also threw a 41-yard TD pass to Ladaireon Rose.

Rose also connected with Tracey Johnson for a two-point conversion.

Dominique Pierce scored on a 6-yard run.

Jose Guittierrez added six extra points.

Rangers fall to Grand Prairie HS

The Naaman Forest Rangers were defeated by Grand Prairie High School Friday, Sept. 11 by a final score of 25-7.

Darius Savage scored for NFHS on a short run and Joshua Mendoza added the extra point.

Quarterback Broderick Hampton threw for 92 yards on the night and Savage rushed for 82.

Colonels fall to North Mesquite HS

The South Garland Colonels were unable to score against North Mesquite High School and were defeated by a final score of 49-0 Friday, Sept. 11
