Mercy Chefs helping tornado victims, volunteers

Jan. 2, 2016

Survivors of the widespread devastation across North Texas began the long process of recovery this past weekend. FEED 3 has joined with disaster relief nonprofit Mercy Chefs this month to feed hundreds of families.

Mercy Chefs has deployed to the hard hit cities of Rowlett and Garland to provide thousands of meals.

Mercy Chefs founder Gary Leblanc said: “Pulling into the disaster zone gave me a sickening feeling in my stomach. The sound of helicopters filled my ears. Debris was scattered everywhere. Mangled vehicles are strewn about everywhere I look. People are standing in front of their homes…still in shock from losing all they had – and on the day after Christmas. It just never gets easier to see this kind of devastation.”

Mercy Chefs is on site to help families, relief workers and volunteers. Donations to FEED 3 designated for disaster recovery will go to Mercy Chefs.
