Murdered man identified, suspect arrested

The man found murdered yesterday under the bridge in the 1600 block of West Walnut Street has been identified as 21-year-old Christopher Jemmy Sanon of Garland.

Garland police have arrested and charged 28-year-old Trevor David Grugle of Garland for the murder.  Police detectives believe Sanon and Grugle got into a fight under the bridge and during that fight Trevor Grugle stabbed Sanon, causing his death. Grugle is in the Garland Detention Center and bond is set at $1,000,000.

Garland officers responded to the report of a man dead underneath the bridge located in the 1600 block of West Walnut Street July 2 at around 11:30 a.m.  When they arrived, they found a black male lying dead on the bank of Duck Creek.

Police Detectives responded along with the Dallas County Medical Examiner. Based on observations at the scene, police are working it as a murder case and will wait on the M.E.’s official ruling as to the cause of death.

Detectives are continuing their investigation.
