Pedestrian killed in vehicle crash

On June 7, shortly before 10:30 pm, the Garland Police Department and Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle accident where a pedestrian had been struck in the 400 block of W. I-30.

Traffic investigators arrived and discovered that a blue Volkswagen passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound and the victim was attempting to cross the highway southbound before being struck.  It was determined that the pedestrian failed to yield right of way to the vehicle, which caused the accident.

There were three occupants in the Volkswagen who were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.  No charges are being filed.

The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Kathy Bridges of Garland.
