Plastics industry expands

Aug. 29, 2016

VPET USA, Inc., best known for producing high-quality, food-grade plastic bottles, has purchased a newly-constructed 167,500 square foot building in Garland’s premier industrial district. As one of Garland’s latest LEED-certified industrial buildings, the new VPET home was developed by Huntington Industrial Partners and is being followed with two additional 135,000 square foot industrial facilities which are under construction nearby and currently available.

Established in 2001, VPET is headquartered in Fontana, California. VPET chose the new facility, located at 3839 Distribution Drive, to better serve their major Texas customers and plans to create 50 new full-time jobs as part of this significant expansion into North Texas. The new Garland facility will run three shifts over a 24-hour-a-day/5- day-a-week operating schedule to accommodate their rapidly expanding customer base.

“We’re excited to add this additional capacity. Our customers rely on us for the quickest turn around in the industry, and this new facility will help keep us at the forefront of our market,” stated VPET VP of Sales, DeeDee Kerr.

VPET’s new Garland facility will include complete production lines for the company’s specialized two-stage PET manufacturing process. This process relies on a large library of pre-forms in a wide variety of neck sizes, allowing VPET to quickly turn any product from concept to delivery. Once fully operational, this $16+ million investment will help fulfill customers’ orders more quickly and efficiently.

Garland’s industrial sector includes numerous plastic manufacturers. In fact, plastic manufacturers are one of the community’s primary target industries. VPET joins Plastipak, Lone Star Plastics, GTM Plastics, Dental Plus Lab LLC, Magnabrite, Guardian Packaging and Heubach Corporation among others.

“We are very excited to welcome VPET USA, Inc. to Garland and look forward to many years of prosperous growth for their manufacturing and distribution operations in our community,” said David Gwin, Garland’s Director of Economic Development.
