Treat yourself; stop by Ain’t No Mo! Butter Cakes

Jul. 18, 2015

Garland residents Quincy and Sheri Brown have brought their bright yellow food trailer, Ain’t No Mo! Butter Cakes, to their hometown and Garland residents are getting a taste of their delicious food and desserts.

When Quincy first approached the city for approval to set up in Garland, there wasn’t an ordinance regarding food trucks, but when he tried again later, an ordinance had been adopted and the Health Department said yes.

“We were the first concession trailer ever allowed in Garland,” Quincy said.

The Browns started their own business out of necessity after Sheri was laid off from her job at Doctors Hospital and Quincy left his job at Jupiter Chevrolet. They had several food related businesses before parking their food trailer at the Dallas Farmers Market where their cakes became a popular item with market customers. After a few years there, they moved home to Garland.

The name, Ain’t No Mo! Butter Cakes, refers to the amount of butter used to make the delicious treats.

“There “ain’t no mo’ butter” because it’s all in the cake,” Quincy said. “And that’s what gives the cakes their great flavor.”

The recipe came from Sheri’s grandmother who baked desserts for family and friends. Sheri’s mom later took over that role, and now Sheri has taken it on. The only difference in the recipe is that Sheri has altered it slightly to make the process faster.

In addition to the great taste of their food, the Browns are known for their friendly service. They have a loyal following and have gotten to know many of their customers. They hope that new customers will continue to stop by for lunch, dinner and dessert.

“We’re proud to be here in Garland, and we really hope that everyone is glad to have us here,” QAintNoMoreButterCakesuincy said.

They use only fresh, high-quality ingredients to accomplish their goal of serving superior food and desserts.

Menu items, in addition to the desserts, include fried chicken, catfish, burgers, cheese steaks, Sunday House fries and more.

Their trailer is at 501 West Walnut Street across from the DART Station and they are open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. There are occasional Saturdays that they are not there because they’ve been invited to attend festivals. The couple also caters and will work with clients on custom event menus.
