The cats of In-Sync Exotics now have even more to enjoy at playtime, as pools in two more playground areas have been completed.
The Mane Street enclosure’s lions love their new splash pool. Even though lions typically do not play in water, lions Lambert and Rafiki have grown up with access to a pool and have learned what fun water can be. In the heat of Texas summers, this will also help to keep the big cats cool.
“These new pools wouldn’t have been possible without all of our amazing supporters,” said In-Sync Exotics’ president and CEO, Vicky Keahey.
The second pool is located in the newest tiger enclosure, Amolly Wally Way, and is aptly named Amolly Wally Bay. The pool boasts an impressive waterfall, an island, and a cave behind the waterfall where the big cats can lounge in the shade. Tigers are known for their love of water and in the wild are often seen swimming while hunting, cooling off or just for fun.
In-Sync will be open to visitors for the week of spring break, March 7-11, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The vision for In-Sync Exotics started in 1998 and was officially established in 2000. As a nonprofit organization the organization is dedicated to the rescue of neglected, abused and unwanted exotic felines. It is their dream that one day there will be no need for rescue facilities, but until that day happens, they will continue to educate the public on the unique attributes and characteristics of the preserve’s residents; the realities of irresponsible and/or illegal exotic wild animal ownership and captive breeding; and the need for stronger and enforceable legislation against those who abuse exotic wild animals.
By visiting schools, churches, organizations, etc., through a community outreach program we hope to educate as many people as possible on the work of the facility as well as the amazing animals who live there. As part of the goal of educating the public, scheduled group tours are offered seven days a week.
