Sunday, Feb. 9, just after 2 a.m., Garland Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a convenience store at 3401 South Garland Avenue. Officers were made aware that a dark-colored Chrysler 300 was chasing and ramming a Mazda passenger vehicle.
When officers arrived at the location, the driver of the Chrysler 300, later identified as 19-year-old Ezekiel Tovar, resident of Dallas, drove away in the Chrysler. Officers attempted to stop Tovar but he led them in a vehicle pursuit. Tovar attempted to flee through Dallas and into Irving where he eventually stopped at a residence in the 1200 block of Rindie Street.
After fleeing into a residence, Tovar surrendered where he was taken into custody.
After speaking with the victims in the Mazda, it was discovered that Tovar chased the Mazda into Garland from Dallas and began ramming the vehicle until the Mazda became disabled. Both vehicles stopped in the parking lot of 3401 South Garland Avenue. The Mazda was occupied by two occupants, Tovar’s ex-girlfriend and another male.
Tovar is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest.
He is currently in the Garland Detention Center. No bonds have been set.
