According to AFP.com, various United States intelligence agencies are investigating the claim by ISIS that it called for the May 4 attack at the Curtis Culwell Center during the Draw the Prophet cartoon contest. The investigation will require extensive research into social media records as well as the backgrounds of the gunmen, Nadir Soofi and Elton Simpson to determine if they had ties to ISIS.
Many, including U.S. Senator John McCain feel that although the gunmen were probably inspired by ISIS, but not carrying out a direct order.
“There’s no doubt that these young people were most likely inspired by ISIS,” McCain told reporters.
McCain added that “There’s a difference between carrying out an ISIS order and being inspired by ISIS.”
CBS News reported today that an American ISIS member used social media to predict more U.S. attacks and added that there are currently 71 trained solders in 15 states.
A social media posting by an ISIS member from Britain read, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
