The Texas State Association of Fire Fighters recently honored Garland Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local #1293 member and Garland Fire Department’s Jerry G. Click with their prestigious Paul Kelly Humanitarian Award.

He received the award July 29 at the Texas State Association of Fire Fighter’s 44th Biennial Convention for his selfless and humanitarian efforts, which exemplify fire fighters heart, dedication, and service to his fellow man.

At each TSAFF Biennial Convention, a TSAFF member is recognized who has contributed in a special way to their Local, which positively affects the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters and further promotes the good of the International Association of Fire Fighters. The Paul Kelly Humanitarian Award singles out an individual who, through their commitment and dedication, has promoted a positive example and human welfare in what they do on and off duty. The presentation consists of a specially designed ring to wear proudly and a certificate recognizing their accomplishments.

David Riggs, president of the Garland Fire Fighters Association said, “Jerry is someone I can depend on when we have a fundraising activity for a charity. Jerry will always ask ‘What do you need me to do?’ Every association needs a Jerry G. Click in their local association. I’m truly blessed to have him in I.A.F.F. Local 1293.”

The Texas State Association of Fire Fighters was established in 1938 and it is Texas’s only professional, career fire fighters organization, representing more than 15,000 fire fighter members and 172 affiliate locals. The Texas State Association of Fire Fighters is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).
