Garland Fire Department would like to congratulate Memorial Pathway graduate Gabriel Rutledge, the 2015 recipient of the Garland Fire Department, Fire Academy Scholarship. The Fire Academy Scholarship was created to provide anopportunity for a graduating GISD senior to attend the academy at no cost. He will be attending in 2016.
Scholarship recipients attend a state-certified academy which includes 16 weeks of classes and training with outdoor drills and classroom instruction.
In choosing a scholarship recipient, the department looks at grades, community service activities and recommendations.
