Garland residents, businesses and property owners impacted by recent floods may be eligible for federal and state disaster assistance, pending action by various government agencies.
In the meantime, Garland officials are asking all property owners with damage to their house or business structure to call in to register their flood damage with the city. This information will enable the city to provide additional information about storm recovery as it becomes available.
Garland property owners impacted by recent floods should call the city of Garland at 972-205-2000 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The call takers will collect contact information and inquire about whether property owners have homeowner, commercial and flood insurance.
Volunteers from Texas Baptist Men will visit impacted areas June 6 and 7 to assess damage to private property. These volunteers may request to interview residents or inspect property to help state and federal assistance agencies estimate the magnitude of damage and needed assistance. All Texas Baptist Men volunteers will have an identification badge and wear a logoed shirt.
Although a federal declaration for the Garland area is not yet official, property owners are urged to register with FEMA for individual assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362)
