Fuzzy’s Taco Shop supports ‘No Kid Hungry’

Sep. 5, 2015

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop®, the award-winning, fast-casual Baja-style Mexican restaurant company famous for its addictive Baja soft tacos and all-day breakfast, is helping end childhood hunger through its participation in and promotion of the nationwide month-long Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™ fundraising campaign:

All Fuzzy’s Taco Shops nationwide, including the location at 5125 N. George Bush Turnpike in Garland will donate 25 cents from each souvenir fountain drink cup sold during the month of September. This new collectible cup is in the same “End it with “Orange” color used throughout the No Kid Hungry campaign.

Guests can donate their Fuzzy’s Taco Shop reward points (in increments of 25) using their Fuzzy’s “Friends with Benefits” loyalty app. For every 25 points gifted via the app, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop will donate $1 to the No Kid Hungry campaign

The Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™ is the largest restaurant-led fundraiser in the country and  is a campaign of the national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength.

Although this is the first time for Fuzzy’s Taco Shop to participate in Share our Strength’s annual Dine Out for No Kid Hungry Campaign, it’s not the first time for the family-friendly restaurants to raise funds for the No Kid Hungry cause or for children in general. Two years ago, to help celebrate its 10 -year anniversary, Fuzzy’s held a month-long fund raising initiative that generated a $75,000 donation to Share Our Strength.

And, over the last six years, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has held annual golf tournaments and annual “Cups for Kids” souvenir cup fundraising campaigns that have contributed a total of more than $143,000 to the Wish for Wings charitable organization that grants “magical wishes for little Texans with life-threatening conditions.”

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is known for its casual, fun ambiance and generous helpings of uniquely flavorful Baja-style Mexican fare. The restaurants also serve a wide array of handmade enchiladas, jumbo salads, nachos, burritos and Fuzzy’s signature white queso and chips, as well as offer a kid’s menu, and  catering packages.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shops serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and most locations offer a selection of beer, wine, margaritas and other specialty cocktails, as well as free Wi-Fi and dog-friendly patios. Diners can earn discounts and free menu items via the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop “Friends with Benefits” mobile app, available for download on Google Play or via iTunes.

About Fuzzy’s Taco Shop® – www.fuzzystacoshop.com: Founded in 2001 near the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the original Fuzzy’s Taco Shop® was purchased by Alan and Chuck Bush after just two years of operation. The father-son combination with a collective 20 years of restaurant industry experience initially took a slow, hands-on approach to running the business. They insisted on adhering to the promise: “To focus our full attention on promptly and efficiently providing our guests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price in a fun atmosphere.” That promise remains central to the chain’s success today as Fuzzy’s Taco Shop expands across the country.

About NO KID HUNGRY: No child should go hungry in America, but one in five will face hunger this year. Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget.
