Allan S. Disraeli MD died at home on November 5, 2015, after a long struggle with lymphoma. Allan was born on February 27, 1936 to Irving and Marion Disraeli in Rochester, New York and grew up there. Both parents were of Russian Jewish descent.
Allan attended Monroe High School in Rochester. He matriculated at NYU in the Bronx for college to study pre-med and math. Allan was responsible for himself and worked in the faculty club to earn his room and board. In his early college years, he met his bride to be, Audree Chipman of Cleveland, Ohio and they married shortly after graduating college.
Medical school was next and he chose the State University of New York at Buffalo. The young couple returned to Rochester so Allan could dedicate himself to learning the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served in the Air Force at Blytheville, Arkansas as the only OB/Gyn on the base. After his service, he and Audree moved to Dallas to start a new life and a new medical practice in 1967. They were one of the early and life-long members of Temple Shalom, where Allan served on the Brotherhood Board and as Treasurer.
He practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1967 to 2012 in the Dallas, Garland and Mesquite area attending the delivery of thousands of infants and helping countless women.
He was active in photography, racquetball, softball, but what he liked most of all was fixing things around the house. Since he was unable to sit still, he also helped his friends with handyman projects. His favorite time of the week was Sunday at his home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren, and preferably in the swimming pool. The grandkids could count on him to regularly attend their concerts, athletic events and recitals, long lens Nikon in hand.
Allan is survived by his brother Jack Disraeli in Rochester, wife Audree of 57 years, children Phillip Disraeli and his wife Eileen, David Disraeli and his wife Lara, and Shari Meyers and her husband Lewis and nine grandchildren- Ari, Alexa, Alistair, Hannah, Zach, Gabi, Mimi, Jeremy and Maddie.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Community Hospice of Texas. The funeral will be held at Temple Shalom Monday November 9 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood of North Texas or the Community Hospice of Texas.
