Under the city of Garland’s new Water Conservation Plan, watering lawns with sprinklers between the months of November and March is limited to one day a week. The new plan gives customers the flexibility of choosing which day of the week they water. Remember grass goes dormant during the winter months and rarely requires additional watering. To save money and water, turn your automatic sprinkler systems off during this period.
Conservation plan key points:
- No outdoor irrigation between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Residents and businesses must minimize non-essential water use
- Newly-installed irrigation systems must be equipped with rain and freeze sensors
- Watering with a hand-held hose, soaker hose or drip irrigation is allowed at any time
