Local used vehicle dealer Phil Lathrop of VP Auto Sales has been elected president of the Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association. The TIADA is a statewide association representing more than 1,400 dealers in the state.
Lathrop, who has been a member for 25 years, also served as the legislative chair for the last five years, working with Legislators in Austin on issues concerning dealer issues.
Lathrop is known in Garland for his participation in the Garland Automotive Business Association along with local attorney Donna Harris and former Council Member Jackie Feagin. This group worked hand in hand with the City Council and Mayors Ron Jones and Douglas Athas to promote harmony and fairness among automotive businesses and the city of Garland.
