The Rowlett Eagles defeated Skyline High School 24-21 in the area round of the playoffs at Mesquite’s Memorial Stadium Saturday, Nov. 21.
Jalen Penn saved the day for the Eagles by blocking a Skyline field goal attempt to prevent the Raiders from tying the score with 19 seconds left in the game.
LaDarius Dickens scored for the Eagles on a 4-yard run and Quinton Stinson scored on an 11-yard pass reception from quarterback Logan Bonner. Monyae Lang got a TD on an 80-yard run. Lang entered the game after Kobe Morrow was injured in the second quarter.
Alvin Kenworthy added a 49-yard field goal and was good on all the PATs.
Bonner threw for 197 yards and Dickens had six pass receptions for 122 yards.
