Students design district’s holiday greeting card

Dec. 15, 2015

Garland ISD recently conducted its annual Fifth-Grade Greeting Card Contest, choosing the district’s holiday stationary for 2015.

Fifth graders from every elementary were invited to participate, and campuses chose a winning entry to represent their school. A panel of district judges then narrowed the submissions to three winners: Andres Morcon from Walnut Glen Academy for Excellence, Edgar Mendoza from Carver Elementary School and Sage Strickland from Steadham Elementary School.

For more than 30 years, the Fifth Grade Greeting Card Contest has been a joint project of the Council of PTAs Arts in Education committee and the school district. Its purpose is to design the seasonal correspondence sent by the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to friends and associates across the state.

The three winning artists were recognized at the Dec. 8 board meeting and given 50 copies of their creation for personal usage. View all of the campus designs on the GRS-TV video gallery.
