A man was struck and killed on the southbound side of LBJ Freeway at LaPrada Feb. 20 at approximately 11:30 p.m.
On arrival, Garland police officers discovered that a black Pontiac was broken down on the right shoulder of the highway just north of La Prada. The driver of the Pontiac was standing outside of the vehicle on the passenger side when a white Jeep drove off of the highway, around the Pontiac, side swiping the passenger side of the vehicle and striking the driver. The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 22-year-old Clifton Curtis of Dallas, died at the scene.
During the investigation it was determined that the driver of the Jeep, 53-year-old Rhonda Anderson of Mesquite, was intoxicated. Anderson has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and is being held at the Garland Detention Center.
Bond was set at $100,000.
