Friday, March 18, shortly after 8 a.m., Garland police observed a white Toyota Camry traveling on Northwest Highway at LBJ Freeway. A license plate check of the Toyota revealed that the plates on the vehicle were stolen. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but driver of the vehicle did not stop and led officers in a chase that ended in Dallas.
During the investigation it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen from a rental car company.
The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Vanessa Hummel of Carrollton, was arrested and has been charged with Evading Arrest and Theft of Motor Vehicle. One of the passengers, 26-year-old Fernando Aguilar of Garland, was also arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
Garland investigators found numerous documents and credit cards inside the Toyota that did not belong to the occupants.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working to determine whether the occupants have been involved in other crimes.
