D.I.Y Garland Home Maintenance

D.I.Y Garland’s free Home Maintenance Series is designed to teach how fence maintenance, landscaping and exterior painting can give your home a spring makeover that will last throughout the seasons. This week, the series will feature an exterior painting class at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at The Home Depot, 3261 North President George Bush Turnpike. Register today!

Teen Talk 2016garland

The city wants to hear from teens about growing a better community, now and for the future! The Garland Youth Council will host Teen Talk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Duckworth Building, 217 North Fifth St. During Teen Talk, youth will have an opportunity to share what they like best about Garland, where they see opportunities for improvement, and learn about city government. Earth Day RecEarthDayGraphicycling event

In recognition of Earth Day, Garland Environmental Waste Services will host a recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium parking lot, 1029 East Centerville Road. During the event, attendees may recycle items not normally accepted as part of the residential recycling program, such as electronic devices, batteries and bulbs. Get to KnGetToKnowGarlandow Garland Race

Register now for the Get to Know Garland Race, an adventure for all ages. Similar to a scavenger hunt, the race requires participants to think on their feet to solve clues that lead to local destinations. At each destination, participants must snap pictures with a smartphone to prove they found the answer. Cost for registration is a $20 charity donation. The race begins at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Central Fire Station, 1013 Austin Street. Register at GarlandChamber.com.
