Organizations partner to help tornado victim

Jun. 1, 2016

Junkluggers of North Dallas and the We Love You Foundation recently partnered to assist a Garland resident.

On the morning of May 25, volunteers coordinated through the International We Love You Foundation donated their time to help a Garland resident whose home sustained substantial damage during last year’s tornado. An entire façade of Gregg Oddom’s home was damaged Dec. 26, 2015 when the tornado hit his neighborhood. The storm sent more than four tons of bricks and debris into his yard.

Oddom has been physically unable to remove the debris himself so the We Love you Foundation sent more than 20 volunteers to help collect the debris from his lawn and place it on the curb. Additionally, more volunteers were at the home the next day by at 10 a.m. to loadjunkluggers the bricks and debris into dump trucks that were donated by Junkluggers of North Dallas. All the debris has now been removed from the property.

Though many homes were damaged beyond repair and most of Oddom’s neighbors have moved out of the neighborhood, he has owned and lived in this home for many years and said that he plans to remain there and rebuild.
