The Garland Firefighters Association is proud to endorse Lori Barnett Dodson in the Garland mayoral election.
Dodson has an extensive professional background working in the investment and asset management business. Her previous financial responsibility over large real estate development projects and her extensive financial training will serve the citizens of Garland well. She has pledged to focus on developmental issues in the residential and business sector and the professional planning of projects aimed at renewing Garland.
Dodson served the citizens of Garland on the Garland City Council from 2011 – 2017 and also served as a member of the Garland Planning and Zoning Commission from 2006 – 2011. She has a long history of community and civic involvement and would bring a wealth of knowledge about city government to the office of mayor. Garland firefighters believe Dodson has qualities to work with the Garland City Council and the professional staff of the city of Garland to improve the quality of life for the citizens.
“The Garland Firefighters Association is confident Lori Barnett Dodson has the best understanding of the issues facing Garland. She has the personal integrity and professional experience needed to be an excellent mayor of Garland,” said David Riggs, president, Garland Firefighters Association.
The association is also proud to endorse Deborah Morris for the District 2 City Council seat.
Morris has an extensive background working with community organizations during her 33 years of living in Garland. She has expressed a desire to solicit citizens’ input and accurately represent their collective voice. This candidate also has a long track record of being able to work with diverse groups of people to bring definition and focus to issues raised and to help them reach a consensus about what (if any) specific action to take.
“After interviewing all the candidates for the open council seat in District 2, the Garland Firefighters Association is confident that Mrs. Deborah Morris in District 2, has the personal integrity and professional experience needed to be an excellent member of the Garland City Council,” Riggs said.
Riggs added that the Garland Firefighters Association looks forward to working with all council members and our mayor. Our desire is to keep Garland a safe place to live, work and play.
