Saturday, May 5, shortly before 4 p.m., officers from the Garland Police Department responded to the report of a shooting in a shopping center located in the 1000 block of Northwest Highway. Upon arrival, the officers observed a Hispanic male subject, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds, lying on the ground in the parking lot.
The 19-year-old victim was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas where he later died from his injuries. Garland PD homicide detectives responded and are investigating the victim’s death as a murder.
Witnesses described a Hispanic male shooting the victim and fleeing from the scene in a blue truck and later, homicide detectives were able to identify the suspect as 36-year-old Oscar Baldamir-Hernandez of Dallas. Investigators believe that the victim was confronted by Baldamir-Hernandez in a Garland business parking lot when he was shot several times.
Oscar Baldamir-Hernandez was located and arrested in Mesquite late last night and is charged with murder.
He is currently in the Garland Jail with no bond.
The investigation is still ongoing.
