Tuesday, May 8, just before midnight, Garland Police Department officers attempted to serve four felony warrants on a subject, identified as 26-year-old Miguel Angel Alvarez, at a residence in the 2200 block Centerville Road in Dallas. The warrants were for narcotics sales and unlawful possession of a firearm. While waiting for additional officers to assist in serving the warrant Alvarez, the suspect, was observed leaving the residence in a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
A traffic stop was initiated but Alvarez refused to stop leading officers in a vehicle pursuit through Dallas, Garland, Richardson and ultimately ending in Plano. During the pursuit Alvarez was observed throwing narcotics and a rifle out of the vehicle that were later recovered.
Multiple agencies assisted including, Dallas, Richardson, Plano, DPS Troopers and helicopter.
Alvarez was arrested and is charged with Evading in a Vehicle, Possession with Intent to Deliver Alprazolam, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Alvarez also had two warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, one Possession of Marijuana (more than four ounces, less than five pounds) and one Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon. The suspect also had two misdemeanor warrants.
He is currently in the Garland Jail and no bond has been set.
