A block party is an exciting opportunity for residents within a neighborhood to meet one another, foster community pride, share ideas, increase awareness of goals and just have fun! Below are some helpful reminders and forms to guide you as you plan your upcoming block party.
- Permits can be secured by submitting a Temporary Activity Permit Applicationas well as a barricade form, and a signed block party petition to the Building Inspections Department. (If you are hosting your party in a Garland park, please send forms to ParksAndRec@GarlandTX.gov)
- Your Neighborhood Association Registration Formmust have been updated with the Office of Neighborhood Vitality (ONV) within the past year before a permit can be issued.
- The ONV offers various assistance to registered neighborhood groups. The Block Party Traileris available to both mandatory and voluntary groups. If you are a voluntary neighborhood association registered with our office, you may qualify for the Capacity Building Grant. Funding is limited. Email Neighborhoods@GarlandTX.gov or call 972-205-2445 for more information.
- Various city departments may be available to make a special appearance at your block party, so please contact the ONV to make arrangements at least four weeks in advance.

The city of Garland, ONV is thrilled to provide this Block Party Trailer as a resource to Garland neighborhoods when building community through block parties! Registered neighborhood groups may reserve this trailer free of charge based on availability. Check here to see if your neighborhood group is registered. The trailer comes equipped with tables, chairs, ice chests, water coolers, canopy tents, traffic cones, chalkboard easel and games.
