Keep Texas Beautiful has recognized Keep Garland Beautiful as a recipient of a 2018 Green Bag Grant. Through funding from H-E-B and Central Market, the organization will provide 11 affiliate communities with a share of $25,000 to support educational and programmatic opportunities relating to sustainability, recycling, litter prevention, beautification and water conservation.
To assist with the implementation of their project, Garland has received $2,030.00 to begin and support their proposed community project. Keep Garland Beautiful will complete their project by July 2019.
Keep Garland Beautiful is partnering with Keep Dallas Beautiful and Keep Rowlett Beautiful to host a TRI-CITY CLEANUP as part of the Keep Texas Waterways Clean Program on Saturday, October 20, headquartered at the Hella Shrine Outdoor Pavilion, 2121 Rowlett Rd, Garland, TX 75043. Volunteers from the entire DFW area will pick up trash along Lake Ray Hubbard and its many watersheds. Keep Garland Beautiful will also host a city-wide trash bash in the spring for Earth Day 2019. This grant funding will pay for garbage grabbers, safety vests, trash bags and gloves for our city-wide litter cleanup events over the next year. “We are grateful to H-E-B and Central Market for making it possible to provide the necessary supplies to keep litter out of our waterways and neighborhoods,” said Betty Roberts, Keep Garland Beautiful president.

“We are thankful for sponsors like H-E-B that afford us even greater opportunities to support our affiliates,” says Suzanne Kho, Executive Director of KTB. “We cannot wait to see the projects our affiliates are able to complete with help from our Green Bag Grants.”
