The Resolution ‘Cross Cup is returning to Garland for a seventh year with two days of internationally-sanctioned (UCI) cyclocross races for amateur and elite cyclists. It is the fifth consecutive year this event will be featured as the only Texas stop on the USA Cycling Professional Cyclocross Calendar (ProCX).
The elite men’s and women’s races (UCI Category 2) start at noon each day. On Saturday, amateur cyclocross races will be the third and final event of the North Texas Cyclocross Race Series (NTXCX). All races are hosted by the Texas Cross Syndicate. All cyclists and spectators can enjoy food and beverage served at the venue by local vendors.
Event dates are Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 2, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the location is W. Cecil Winters Park, 1330 Spring Creek Drive in Garland.
This year’s course includes a new wooded section and varied use of the steep contour at Winters Park Amphitheater. The popular BMX-style pump track and creek bottom “wall” climb return. Finally, a new stairs section will be used to climb back into the top portion of the venue. Spectators will be close to all the action, and good-natured heckling is encouraged.
Admission and parking are free for spectators. Online registration ranges from $5-45 and is open until Thursday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. (www.bikereg.com/resolutioncx). Timing transponders are required for amateur race scoring; $5/day rental if rider does not own this item.
