The Garland ISD Education Foundation (GEF) kicked off the season of giving with cheers, hugs and cash. The nonprofit awarded 204 grants and 12 scholarships totaling more than $50,000 before Thanksgiving break.
GEF President Lisa Cox, along with members of GEF’s board of directors, walked into classrooms, gyms and offices to surprise fall 2018 winners Nov. 13-15. Selected by GEF’s grant and scholarship committee, this year’s recipients will enhance education through an outdoor learning lab, sewing machines, podcast headphones, Tubano drums and much more.
