New leadership at Garland congregation

Feb. 20, 2019

Changes have occurred in the leadership of the Garland 4th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brian Craddock has replaced Wes Staub as Bishop, a position similar to Pastor, of the congregation of approximately 450 members. Bishops are chosen from among a congregation’s members and serve, without financial compensation, for approximately five years.

Craddock, 45 years old, was born and raised in Farmersville. He and wife Heather have four children; Michael, Keith and Mikayla are grown and gone. Youngest son, Coleman, is a basketball-playing freshman at Naaman Forrest High School.

A project supervisor for 17 years at TDI, a construction company specializing in clean rooms, Craddock enjoys spending a good amount of time with his family.

When asked about this new responsibility to serve and lead his congregation Craddock said, “My feelings are a mixture of happiness and nervousness. I love our Ward family and am anxious to really get to know everyone well while serving them. This is the only Ward, of which I have been a member, since my baptism in September of 2000.”

Each bishop serves with two counselors, which together form a bishopric. Serving beside Bishop Craddock as Counselors are Brent Barlow and Shaun Bonavita, both of Garland.

The Garland 4th Ward meets each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS building at 2701 North Garland Avenue in Garland. Visitors are welcome.
