Students read thousands of minutes during contest

Jan. 21, 2020

As part of Garland ISD’s ongoing Literacy for Life initiative, the district challenged students to read at least 20 minutes a day for 20 days over Winter Break using myON—an online platform that allows free access to thousands of digital books in English and Spanish. GISD’s dedicated students did not disappoint, reading a collective 357,099 minutes from Dec. 21-Jan. 9. Five campuses and eight students were recognized as victors, each receiving prizes the week of Jan. 13.
