Fit Factory may have temporarily closed its doors to gym-goers in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, but that isn’t stopping them from supporting local and national health initiatives. On April 19, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fit Factory will host an official American Red Cross blood drive at their Garland, Texas location, located at 320 Winecup Way.
Blood drives are considered essential and are categorized as acceptable reasons to leave one’s house even under state lockdown orders. With 9,000+ blood drives already canceled this spring due to the virus, Fit Factory’s CEO and Co-Founder Matthew Genees stated that it was a “no brainer” to help the American Red Cross. “We anticipate that this partnership will be an initiative we carry forward indefinitely in the coming months,” said Genes. He went on to say, “We want to do anything that we can to help our community members during this challenging time.”
Each Fit Factory health club provides plenty of space to maintain adequate social distancing measures and to collect blood, especially while they are closed to the general public. This paired with the American Red Cross’s already stringent precautions of checking staff and donor temperatures upon entry to the drive will ensure that the event is carried out safely and effectively. More information about the timing and dates of future Fit Factory blood drive events will be released soon.
This initiative is just one of many that Fit Factory has underway during this time. In addition to hosting blood drives, the health club also delivered “thinking of you” cards to assisted living centers, purchased staff meals from local restaurants that need the support, and worked with local food banks.
