The city of Garland is excited to announce the future home of the new Fire Station 6! The station will be located on State Highway 190 near the intersection of Campbell Road.
The station is the first of three stations which will be replaced as part of the 2019 Bond Program. The new facilities will include modern equipment, include additional bunk rooms, and allow for improved firefighter health and safety – as well as improved response times.
“The Garland community has shown outstanding support for the public safety professionals who work here,” Fire Chief Mark Lee said. “Part of that support is reflected in the approval of the 2019 Bond Program and the approval of the replacement of three aging fire stations.
“The firehouses of today add additional protections for the firefighters. And the demographics of the fire service have risen to the forefront when designing fire stations. If we protect our firefighters, they can continue to protect the community at the highest levels.”
The design of Fire Station 6 will begin in the fall. Construction is anticipated to happen in 2022. It will replace the current Station 6, which has been in service since 1980 at 2009 Holford Road.
