As wintry conditions ease, the city of Garland will have limited in person services available Friday, Feb. 19. Certain facilities will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services and staffing will be limited. Those facilities are:
Garland City Hall – 200 N. Fifth St.
Duckworth Utility Services Building – 217 N. Fifth St.
Main Street Municipal Building – 800 Main St.
Central Library – 625 Austin St.
All residential trash/recycling bulky collections are suspended for the rest of this week and will resume normal routes Tuesday, Feb. 23. Commercial collections will resume Monday, Feb. 22. Please do NOT put excess trash in the blue recycling bin. Excess trash can be bagged and placed on the curb. Excess recycling can be brought to the Recycling Center when it is safe to reopen that facility, or held for your next recycling date.
The Hinton Landfill will reopen Friday and Saturday to 4-wheel drive and commercial vehicles only. The Citizens Convenience Center will open Monday.
Repair Assistance & Utility Information
In the wake of recent winter storms, the city of Garland offers home repair assistance. Programs are available to assist income-eligible homeowners in Garland with emergency home repairs such as frozen pipes, HVAC repairs, and electrical repairs. Call 972-205-2130 to obtain information to apply.
Garland’s Utility Customer Service Department understands that utility bills paid in person will likely be late, due to winter storm closures. No utilities will be cut off for late payments through Friday, Feb. 26. To remove late fees, contact Customer Service at 972-205-2671 or CustServ@GarlandTX.gov.
GP&L is still working to restore power to all customers with distribution crews working around the clock to troubleshoot the remaining outages. If you still do not have power, call 972-205-3000 or text OUT to 972-205-4000. Please only report your outage once. With temperatures still below freezing, it is possible some power plants around the state might stop running. If this occurs, ERCOT might call for rotating outages to keep the grid stable.
