Two dead in domestic disturbance

May. 17, 2021

On Sunday, May 16, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Garland Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in an apartment community in the 6300 block of Naaman Forest Boulevard. A female caller said that her ex-boyfriend fired shots inside the location. During the call, a 9-1-1 operator heard additional gunshots. The female caller advised the dispatcher that she had been shot. The call taker also heard an argument between the caller and a male. The call was then disconnected.

Within minutes, responding police officers made entry into the apartment and found a female victim with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. They also found a male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. The male was transported by the Garland Fire Department and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Keandra Long. The male is identified as 36-year old Gregory Lowe of Mesquite.

A preliminary investigation and evidence found at the scene lead detectives to believe that Lowe shot and killed Long and then turned the gun on himself. Detectives will wait on a cause of death from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office before making an official ruling.

Garland police officers had responded to a previous family disturbance between the victim and suspect in July 2020. This incident was determined to be a verbal argument over a cellphone in which no violence occurred.
