The 2021 City Council election cycle featured 12 candidates, the most Garland had seen since 2017, and a runoff. Mayor Scott LeMay complimented the political atmosphere during the local cycle in his acceptance speech, saying, “In the city of Garland, candidates do get along. It was really very refreshing to see.”
