The city of Garland has named Ayako Schuster to lead the city’s Economic Development Department, focusing on bringing new development and fresh redevelopment partnerships to the community.
Ayako’s career in economic development began in 2000 when she joined the Garland Economic Development Partnership and Garland Chamber of Commerce as an intern. She proved herself through a progression of responsibilities and successes, moving to the City of Garland Economic Development Department in 2015. She has served as the business development manager and is honored to continue to serve Garland in her new role.
“After a nationwide search, we found that the talent we need to take Garland’s economic development efforts to the next level is already here,” said Garland City Manager Bryan Bradford. “Ayako has two decades of experience in Garland and her relationship- and data-focused approach will help Garland focus on the challenging work of redevelopment.”
Ayako has a master’s in Applied Economics from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s in English Literature from the University of Shizuoka.
