IMPACT Communities, a program of Drug Prevention Resources, is partnering with Room for Change and other local organizations to host the First Garland Community Mental Health Fair Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held outside at Room for Change’s new location, 618 Clara Barton Blvd. in Garland.
The fair will feature free mental health screenings, food, music, stress reduction activities, prescription drug disposal bags, overdose prevention training and prizes! The Garland Health Department will be on-site providing COVID-19 vaccinations and health and safety tips. Other partners include Carrollton Springs, Connections Wellness Group, Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas, the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority and Urban Inter-Tribal Center of Texas.
“It’s more OK now than ever to say, ‘I have a problem and I need help,’ but people often don’t know where to start,” Amanda Esquivel, Founder and Lead Therapist of Room for Change said. “We hope this event will serve as a first step for anyone on a journey toward wellness. Whether it be finding a counselor or hospital program, screening for mental illness and memory issues, the fair will be a great place to get questions answered and find valuable resources.
