Week 6 of high school football is in the books. Four 6A teams remain unbeaten and the Garland Owls are on that short list. The results for District 9 6A games are below.
Garland HS 41 – Lakeview Centennial HS 7
The Garland Owls (6-0, 3-0) collected 511 offensive yards in their Thursday, Sept. 30, win over the Lakeview Centennial Patriots (4-2, 1-2).
QB Cergio Perez threw for 230 of those yards and connected with Charles Allen and Aaron King for touchdowns. Allen had two catches for 100 yards. Jayshon Powers scored two rushing TDs for the Owls and carried the ball five times for 131 yards. Jordan Hudson had three carries for 93 yards and a touchdown. Keyunte King also added a TD to the Owls’ point total.
Caylon Montgomery caught seven Jonathan Hester II passes for 132 yards and a TD for the Patriots. Hester threw for 204 yards.
Wylie HS 31 – Rowlett HS 13
The Wylie Pirates (2-4, 2-1) got a win over the Rowlett Eagles (1-5, 1-2) Thursday, Sept. 30. at Garland’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
Eagles’ QB James Okolo threw for 228 yards and two TDs. Both TD passes were caught by Corey Kirkling who had nine catches for 210 yards.
Naaman Forest HS 61 – South Garland HS 27
The Naaman Forest Rangers (2-1, 2-1) collected 475 total offensive yards – 280 in the air and 195 on the ground – in their Friday, Oct. 1, win against the South Garland Titans (0-6, 0-3). QB Tray Walton completed six of nine pass attempts for 272 yards and four touchdowns. Jaden Flores had three catches for 114 yards and a score. Jason Flores, Mike Deluna and Kingsley Bennett also caught TD passes.
Bennett also rushed for four TDs.
Titans’ QB Jaden Holland collected 165 passing yards with one touchdown. Jacob Crim caught the TD pass. Tyreon Key caught three passes for 108 yards. Holland, Malik Price and Camray’on Sanders scored rushing touchdowns.
Sachse HS 42 – North Garland HS 34
The Sachse Mustangs (4-2, 3-0) collected 522 offensive yards in a Friday, Oct. 1, victory over the North Garland Raiders (4-2, 1-2). Mustangs QB Alex Orji threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns. The TD passes were caught by Jamari Harts, Cam Gladney and Elijah Aimes. Orji also ran the ball 20 times for 176 yards and one score.
Luke Keefer had seven carries for 112 yards and a score. LaDon Littlejohn also scored a rushing TD.
SHS coaches chose Alex Orji as Offensive MVP and Albion Krasniqi as Defensive MVP. Krasniqi had four solo tackles and one assist. Alejandro Alvarado was chosen Special Teams MVP with six of six extra point conversions.
NGHS quarterback Godspower Nwawuihe completed 13 of 18 pass attempts for 182 yards and two TDs. The QB also ran the ball 131 yards and added a rushing touchdown. Isaiah DeLeon caught six passes for 105 yards and one TD. Mateo Howard also caught a TD pass. Jaden Davis carried the ball 17 times for 101 yards and two scores.
