The season of giving is flourishing in our tri-cities. Garland ISD graduate Megan Stoeckl spearheaded a fundraising campaign that resulted in more than $40,000 to spread holiday cheer in her home district. Thanks to her generous Instagram followers and local businesses,
Stoeckl surprised all 276 Centerville Elementary School students with big gifts that included scooters, king-size blankets, water bottles, toys, snacks and more the last day before winter break.
The students were wowed as they entered the cafeteria to receive their gifts and greet Santa, who made a special visit all the way 
from the City of Rowlett Chamber of Commerce.
“I feel so excited. I mean, we just got scooters,” said fourth-grader Delaney Olayo. “I did not know we were going to get so much stuff.”
Stoeckl’s philanthropic effort was inspired by letters to Santa written by Centerville Elementary students. This marks the third year she rallied support to benefit the Cheetahs.
“I cannot begin to say how grateful I am for all the donations for our kids and families,” Centerville Principal Dr. Amie Pennington expressed. “It is such a blessing to be part of such a wonderful community. Each one of our kids feel the joy of the holidays due to their generosity.”
The heartwarming event even secured visits from GISD trustee Larry Glick.
