Norman Duren, beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Norman was 75 years old.
Norman was born September 9, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Dr. Norman Duren and Edwina Murray Duren.
Norman graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in Spanish and went on to obtain a Master’s in Library Science at the University of Texas in 1968. He was a former Cataloger at the University of Texas Medical Branch Moody Medical Library in Galveston, Texas from 1972 to 1984.
He dearly loved his time working in the medical library and had a love for books.
Norman is survived in death by sister-in-law the Hon. Anne Ashby (Ret); his nephew Tracy Norman Duren, his wife Kim, and children Madison and Kacy; his niece, Lara Michelle Barbosa, her husband Chris, and children Kristiana and Ryan; all from the Metroplex area. He is also survived by his sister-in–law, Mary Ann, nephews Murray Jr. and Robert Duren, his wife Kristy and children Abigail Jane and Molly Ann; cousins Chuck Murray and Cynthia; and Bill Murray and wife.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers Murray and Michael Duren. Norman will be interred at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. Family graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022.
The memorial service will take place at Christian Care Communities and Services, 900 Wiggins Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75150 at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Norman loved his family, church, friends and Galveston. He was a wonderful, caring, kind, Christian man and he will be dearly missed.
