RHS senior receives TCBSBM scholarship

Jun. 1, 2022

Jordan Myers, a senior at Rowlett High School in GISD, has been awarded the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members Scholarship. Myers will be graduating in a couple of weeks and plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in psychology on the pre-med route. Helping her follow her path is the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members, awarding her the TCBSBM scholarship to assist with financial needs for the first year of college.

TCBSBM’s mission is to bring awareness, educate and empower all school board members – particularly members of color to identify, advocate and address systemic matters encountered by African American students within the educational system. They also extend scholarship opportunities to help students like Jordan achieve their post-secondary academic pursuits.

Jordan helps her community by providing mental health care packages to people in need. She plans to continue these services throughout college and her career striving for a more perfect and progressed society. The scholarship will help Jordan continue to make a difference.
